It’s Children’s Day today. The children were super excited. They will finally get their opportunity to meet with Jesus today. They have heard so much about Him, seen the miracles He performed and watched from a distance as He walked along their streets with multitudes all around Him. They had many imaginations in their heads; will Jesus be chance to meet with them? He seems ever so busy…. Will He be available to pray, (well, He could), talk (He could probably tell us a story about His Father’s Kingdom), sing, or could He possibly have time to play with children….
Well, whatever it would be, they want to get their chance to get close to Jesus. Fathers and mothers, grandparents, guardians and caregivers all came with the children, little boys and girls, babies, suckling’s clinging to their mothers while the teenagers followed closely along. Jesus was on this day at the coast of Judaea, by the farther side of Jordan (Mark 10: 1). “And they brought young children to Him, that He should touch them” (Mark 10: 13b).
As they draw close to where Jesus was, the disciples restrained them, stopping those that brought the children from getting close to Him. The children were disappointed and felt sad and some of them were even crying. Jesus saw everything from where He was and was unhappy with the disciples that tried to stop them. He instructed them, saying, “Let the little children come unto me, do not stop them: for of such is the Kingdom of God”. (Mark (10:13-16).
All the children and those that brought them were super excited. They did not only get the opportunity to get close to Jesus, but He also taught them and everyone around about the Kingdom of God as a little child. Jesus played with them by carrying them up in His arms, He blessed them and told everyone how special the children are in the Kingdom of God. It was their best day ever!
